Man of Truth

Strength. Truth. Integrity. Values. Being a real Man!

Which man is not triggered in his heart by these words? Every-thing inside of me wants to be a man with these characteristics!

We men were created by God to reflect His strength – that’s why they are so attractive to us. Through living out traits like integrity, truth, strong and godly values we operate and function inline with God’s design for us men.

Being a ”true man” means that ”truth” is one of your strongest core values, and it is a crucial part of how you are created in God’s image and likeness.. God is truth, and He designed us to represent and reflect His character of truth.

What does that mean? What is truth?
The Greek word that is used for ”truth” all over the new testament is the word ”alétheia”. Jesus uses it to describe Himself as ”truth” in John 14:6 and to describe the Word of God in John 17:17.
This word means not only ”truth” and ”true to fact”, but was also used synonymous for ”reality”! When someone wanted to describe reality, they would use the word ”truth”. So, truth is what describes and corresponds with reality.

Think of light: When the light is on, you can see reality clearly. Without any light, you can’t see what the world/reality around you looks like. When Jesus described Himself as ”truth” and ”the light of the world”, He says that on Him we can see clearly what reality is like!
The Word of God being truth means also that the Word of God shows you reality.

In the light of truth, you can see what reality truly is.

You are born of God now out of the seed of the Word of God, and by that you have the same spiritual nature and DNA like God has.

Eph. 5:8-14 says that you in Jesus are ”light” and a ”child of light”, this means that ”light” is at the core of your spiritual DNA. Since light is a picture for truth – truth is at the core of who you are! As a son of God, you were created to show forth truth and reality into a world where darkness, lies and deception reign, and you function inline with your God-given design when you as man live a life of truth!

How does that apply?
Where you are, truth reigns. Think of it as where you are, ”the light is on”, and people can see reality as it is. Being a man of truth means that truth goes out from you to others, so that they see clearly. It means that where you are unrighteousness can not be.

Light never mixes itself with darkness, but has absolute dominion over it. Eph 5:11-14 talks about how light exposes what darkness tries to hide. As a Man of Truth, darkness is not allowed to function in your sphere of influence but you set clear boundaries against the things and ways of darkness.

Living a Life of Truth
Below are some keys to start living a life of truth, and that will help you to ”turn on the light”:

1. Know your values: Are they inline with God’s word and truth?
If so, then live them out with strong convictions, don’t compromise.

2. Integrity and honesty: Be truthful in all you do.
Speak the truth in love, be honest in whatever you say and do.

3. Set boundaries against darkness: Don’t allow corrupted and unrighteous ways in your sphere of influence, don’t partake in the ways of the kingdom of darkness.

Stay on Kingdom Territory
There is another powerful dynamic to you walking in the truth: The Kingdom of God is a Kingdom of truth! When you have truth as your core value and walk in it, you are staying in the spiritual jurisdiction of the Kingdom of God and inside it’s boundaries. God can not work on the territory of the kingdom of darkness, but He can work in and through you as you stay on the spiritual ground of His Kingdom!

You can think of ”truth” as being the border control of the Kingdom of God. When you leave truth, you just left the territory of the Kingdom of God and crossed over into the kingdom of darkness. Staying inside the truth means you are staying on God’s territory where He legally can pave a way for you.

As you make truth your core value, you are walking more and more in Jesus-like dominion over the kingdom of darkness! Look at Rom. 13:12-14 – putting on the armor of light means to put on Jesus. You are literally manifesting Jesus when you put on truth and are walking in truth!
1.John 3:8 then tells you that manifesting Jesus means you are destroying the works of the devil!

Walking in the truth will build your character and self-respect as a man like few other things! As you live your life with integrity as Jesus did, the strength that God created in you as man will manifest inside out from within you – and you will expand the Kingdom of God in your God-given sphere of influence.
